Get Ready for Tax Season

Now is the time to start preparing for Tax Season!

Here is a list of what you need to get started:

1. Social Security Cards for yourself and all your dependents.

2. Bank account information.  Visit your local bank to get this information before you come to the tax site.

3. The amounts of the 3rd stimulus payments you received around March of 2021.  You and your dependents were each eligible for $1,400.  This would have Notice 1444-C

4. In January, 2022, The IRS will send Letter 6419 to provide the total amount of advance Child Tax Credit payments that were disbursed to you during 2021. Please keep this letter regarding your advance Child Tax Credit payments with your tax records. You may need to refer to this letter when you file your 2021 tax return during the 2022 tax filing season.

5. If you received or are receiving unemployment in 2021, now is the time to set up your on-line account.  New York State does not automatically mail the form needed for taxes (1099-G)

Updated information, including tax season hours, will be available on the CASH/VITA site in January.

Homebuyer Asset Protection Program

We are excited to announce a new program we can offer to homebuyers. The Homebuyer Asset Protection Initiative (HAPI) helps income eligible buyers purchase their first home in the City of Rochester through a private or cash transaction. The program provides access to the same methods and protocols that financial lenders use to protect their investments and avoid unforeseen financial obligations through an educational counseling session.

HAPI funds can be used to pay for a home inspection completed by a licensed home inspector, legal fees which include research of the title history, obtaining title insurance and properly recording the deed. Additionally, in some cases, funds may be available to pay for a portion of home repairs. For more information on this program visit: https://www.cccsofrochester.org/hapi-program

CCCS of Rochester also offers several programs and services to help clients manage credit and debt concerns and develop a spending plan to reach financial goals and build financial capability.

Visit our website at:  www.cccsofrochester.org or https://www.rochesterfec.org/  or call 585-546-3440 to learn more.
